Pristine snow at 10,000 feet melts
to become deepest blue waters,
crystal clear in shades
of turquoise, cerulean dreams,
stone lined heaven, and you
and I are together,
you out of the white halls
and slow drips for a time
and half a time, and
we stand together, the beauty
overwhelming and I hold my breath but
time won’t stand still
and the snow keeps melting.

Poetics challenge: What I’d like us to do is to write a poem that conjures a view (whether from our travels or everyday life, whether from desire or experience) that is colored by the emotion of the moment.
A visually stunning and evocative poem, Lisa. I love how the landscape becomes a metaphor for the change that time brings, as beautiful as those changes may be. The pristine becomes evocative of new love (“you out of the white halls”), and that “stone-lined heaven” shared by two. A wonderful poem.

This is beautiful, and reads very much like a zen saying. Nice mood you created.

Ahhh! Now I want to visit too. (As this is highly unlikely, I’m glad I have you to show it to me.)

These moments in remission are so precious and we remember them with such especial clarity- like the waters of the lake…

It is true. It sounds like you know only too well and I am sorry for that. I remember those days so clearly. They were a gift.

I am glad you and your sister had those years, but I bet they weren’t easy years. And it’s never enough ❤️💔
