There are times in life when we lose our joy
and our day could be perfect, but we find no deep happiness.
Something inside is broken, and sorrow
has chewed through all the wiring,
so the connection is lost.
I thought I would never feel that rush
of merriment, that laughter would
no longer burst out of me,
but I was wrong.
Now I find myself more happy than not,
because our hearts can rewire themselves,
and if I’m not completely healed yet,
that is alright
because I will get there.
