Everyone poured themselves out of the car. We were full from dinner, full of good cheer. We were headed to the house, where inside we would celebrate Luna’s second birthday with cake and presents. The night sky was bright, and I looked up to see clouds swirling and undulating around the full Hunter’s moon like waves of the sea. The moon had a halo of light blue around it, an unusual and beautiful sight. Everyone went inside but me. I told them I would just be a minute. It was quiet, and I stood admiring the moon and sky overhead, wishing I could stay much longer. I wondered who Luna, named for the moon, would grow up to be.
The full Hunter’s moon
in the October sky is
a beautiful dream

The Challenge: Whether it’s the light of October’s Full Moon, or the fright of Halloween, let’s testify! Write a haibun that alludes to either the Hunter’s Moon or Halloween.
New to haibun? The form consists of one to a few paragraphs of prose—usually written in the present tense—that evoke an experience and are often non-fictional/autobiographical. They may be preceded or followed by one or more haiku—nature-based, using a seasonal image—that complement without directly repeating what the prose stated.
A lovely memory. A lovely poem, Lisa.

Gorgeous write, Lisa, from one grandma to another, from one Lisa to another 🙂 Beautiful capture of the moon and the wave-like clouds. To me it feels like a message from you about Luna, from Luna.
