  1. Lovely poem. What struck me (because I’m weird) was that you called the sun “her.” In Western mythology, the Sun is generally considered to be male. That shift changed the direction of the poem for me. But this was a Japanese-inspired prompt, so of course I “had to” Google. Sure enough, in Shintoism (Japanese), the Sun is associated with a female goddess. Fairly certain I have a few more Internet rabbit warrens to chase now. 🙂

    1. I’m sorry I sent you down the internet rabbit hole! I guess I just always think of the sun as a woman, and had not given it the proper weight of thought I should. Thank you for your lovely comment, and research. I am happy I learned something today.
