The last movie to make me cry was a movie I watched just a few days ago, “Don’t Say Good Luck”. The movie is a drama, streaming on Netflix, directed by Julia Hart and starring Sunny Sandler (Adam Sandler’s daughter), Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield, Steve Buscemi and Bebe Neuwirth. I have to say Melanie Lynskey is one of my favorite actresses. She is so believable in every role.
“Don’t Say Good Luck” is about a high school student, Sophie Birenbaum, who tries out for her school’s musical production of Waitress. While her audition is very good, her family is about to get some very bad news. And it is the tender juxtaposition of Sophie’s joy in the musical and her male co-star, and the tragedy of her mother’s health issue, that pull your hear apart – much as real life does. The family is also the star in this movie, showing what a loving and supportive family looks like, a family that really puts each other first.
It is a joyful, heartbreaking movie and I loved it. Don’t be put off by the age of the heroine, the themes of the movie are for all ages – family, love, perseverance, self-worth, sacrifice and generosity. It might make you cry, too.
Sounds like a good, clean family flick. Thanks for the share, Lisa.

I think it is family-friendly, it is rated PG-13. I believe the movie could spark some discussions in a family, too, like about sacrifice, generosity and love, and being there for each other. It also shows a young woman who learns her worth in response to a friendship with a boy that she thought she wanted.
