If there were a stairway to heaven
would I find my feet on its stones?
Would I climb the heights and go into
a world that exists in the unknown?
I wonder if your arms would be open
to fold me into your heart
and show me all of the wonders
you’ve discovered since we’ve been apart.
I know you would lead me to loved ones
that have been there, waiting on me
and we will sit by the living waters
eating fruit from a life-giving tree.
If there were a stairway to heaven,
my heart would find the courage
to walk across the glittering stars
and end my life-long pilgrimage
