I’m so glad you asked this WP! I have a very important mission, although I doubt I will ever end my mission with success. But I keep trying because I am a woman on a mission.
What is my mission? My mission is to find a comfortable bra that doesn’t have underwires, doesn’t come up into my underarms, doesn’t kill my shoulders (I have a bad shoulder), doesn’t have lace on the cups and hides the headlights.
Oh, it sounds so simple. There are at least a million bras out there, surely one is comfortable and would be perfect for me. Ha! That’s where you’re wrong. I have purchased hundreds of bras, seriously, and have never found one that was just right.
My sister said a bra cannot be comfortable because of the job it is designed to do, and she is probably right. I said bras are uncomfortable because they are designed by men, but that really isn’t true. Women can design uncomfortable bras just as easily as men can, and they do.
Someday I may create the perfect bra prototype and have it manufactured by a local seamstress. Then I could go to other women like myself who are sick of being dissatisfied by the status quo in the bra world and find backers to have the bra mass produced, providing relief to women everywhere. Maybe the only way I can fulfill my mission is to create the perfect bra myself.
To all the women reading this who remove their bras as soon as it is possible, or do not even wear one, you know what I’m talking about!
To find a comfortable, wireless bra that stays put and supports without shoulder pain, look for brands like Knix, Wacoal, or Shapermint, focusing on styles with wider straps, full coverage, and smoothing fabrics that mold to your body, often called seamless or T-shirt bras, and consider options like True & Co for everyday wear. Getting a professional fitting is key, as the right band and strap fit prevent digging and sagging in the underarm and shoulder areas.

Thank you, Jim! I must say, I have not bought a bra from a couple of these manufacturers yet. I am going to check them out.

I’m with you, Lisa, but then again what woman wouldn’t be? I haven’t met one yet who loves wearing her bra. I have totally given up and only begrudgingly wear one when I absolutely have to. Now, with this fractured rib, I can’t even get one on!

I wear Shapermint currently and do like them- but have you seen those new jelly bras? I want to try one.
