  1. A reflection inside a glass of water is seen as being upside down, because the water acts as a convex lens, causing light rays to bend (refract) and cross, which inverts the image vertically. This is different from a flat surface, where reflections are only horizontally reversed, or from a cylindrical glass without water, where you can see through it.
