Reveries

A quiet night to sit outside,
autumn canopy overhead.
The moon is low, the sky is wide,
and underfoot leafy carpet spread.
The Fall, a time for memories,
at night, a ghostly whisper heard
will lead to trance-like reveries,
a heart whose emotions are stirred.
Shadows of friends and loved ones dance
through time, the moments and years
filled with hardships, love and romance,
bright laughter showing the door to tears.

I just finished reading “Wintering” – the book and your poem are echoing each other.
