There are times in life when we lose our joy
and our day could be perfect, but we find no deep happiness.
Something inside is broken, and sorrow
has chewed through all the wiring,
so the connection is lost.
I thought I would never feel that rush
of merriment, that laughter would
no longer burst out of me,
but I was wrong.
Now I find myself more happy than not,
because our hearts can rewire themselves,
and if I’m not completely healed yet,
that is alright
because I will get there.

I love your heartfelt share, Lisa. Your imagery of the heart rewiring itself is such a great metaphor. I am glad you are finding your joy again after your great loss!

I’m with you on this one. 👍 As a teacher I often share similar sentiments with my struggling teenage students and encourage them to just hang in there.

My wires were chewed through many moons ago- and I think they may have discontinued the parts necessary to repair me at this point- but that’s ok because I no longer seek the extremes of emotion I once did- so to fix me now would be more than this old gal could handle.
