For FOWC with Fandango, we have been asked to use the prompt “Marathon.”
My oldest son has participated in the Ride Across Indiana, or R.A.I.N. for several years. It is a 160 mile bicycle ride that crosses the entire state of Indiana. Some riders can do this in 7 or so hours, others, like my son, do it in more like 12 hours. He has successfully completed the race some years, one or two years he couldn’t complete because his bicycle failed in some way or another, much to his very, very great frustration. My son, Jason, is not all that competitive, but he thrives on personal challenges, especially very physical ones. So, if you think of it, send him some good vibes or say a prayer for his safe and successful ride tomorrow. I’m very proud of him.
His brother-in-law, Cole, is also riding in the event and they have a friend that will drive a vehicle across the state with them with tools and parts in case of breakdowns.
Go Jason and Cole!

My son is an avid cyclist and every year for the past dozen or so years he has ridden in the AIDs LifeCycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. It’s a 6-day, 535 bike ride. Unfortunately, this year’s race, which took place at the beginning of June, was the last race. The group that sponsors the event lost a big chunk of funding, so they are ending this annual tradition.

Wow! What a grueling event. Your son is amazing to take on a physical and mental challenge like that. I am truly sorry that the sponsors lost funding.

What a great event to take part in. Here’s hoping the weather and his bike cooperate

Thank you so much. It is storming badly here now and windy. It will be a challenge, for sure.
