Pete

Pete was a Storm Trooper. He had no choice. It was either be a Storm Trooper and do things he didn’t like, or get killed. He wanted to stay alive, he had a wife and children. His wife, Stormy, was lovely and he thanked his lucky stars every day that she was his. They had two children, Stan and Pete, Jr. He loved his sons and spent as much time with his family as his job allowed. Pete, Jr. enjoyed wearing a little Storm Trooper suit, which bothered Pete a bit, but what could he say? What really bothered Pete, though, was that Stan liked to wear a little Darth Vader suit. And Stan would walk around, breathing hard, not saying anything and watching Pete and Stormy like a little spy. It made Pete nervous, but he wasn’t ready to talk to Stormy about it yet.

One evening, after a long day at work shooting at rebels and blowing up space ships, Pete was feeling pretty down. He couldn’t wait to get home and forget about it all. As he turned down his street, he thought he saw Darth Vader get into a hovercraft by his house and zoom away. I must be more tired than I thought, he told himself. When he went into his kitchen, Stormy was starting on dinner. Stormy’s hair was mussed and she adjusted her jumpsuit. Stan was standing by his mother, wearing his Darth Vader suit and staring at Pete.

Pete headed for the bar in the dining room and made himself a stiff Fuzzy Tauntaun and drank it down. He and Stormy were probably going to have a serious talk sometime soon about visits from Darth Vader and Stan’s strange affinity for wearing a Darth Vader suit. If Vader wanted his wife, what could she do? What could he do? Maybe if they put their heads together, they could figure out a way to get through this. He walked into the kitchen and kissed Stormy and they hugged for a long time. After Stan went to bed, they would talk.

  1. Darth Vader usually got what he wanted, except when he tried to get Luke to do evil, to benefit the Emperor. Pete the Storm Trooper and his wife Stormy were powerless against his wishes, because neither of them were jedi’s.

  2. Wow! So creative! All that from that picture… “The Company Man,” forced to submerge his principles. Reminds me of that movie “The Apartment” with Jack Lemmon and Fred McMurray. Great post, Lisa! 😎
