Unwind in Nature

How do you unwind after a demanding day?

At my age, unwinding after a demanding day doesn’t usually involve physical activity. It involves comfort, rest and relaxation.

If it’s cold outside, I make hot tea and cover myself with a thick, soft blanket.

If it’s warm outside, I like to sit on the patio or by the lake with a cold drink. I like to swim, if the waters are warm enough.

Being outside in nature is calming and rejuvenating. Everything is soothing: the sun warms your skin, the breeze cools your skin, the movement of the branches, birds, water and grass is mesmerizing. If it is too cold to go out, then open the blinds and sit by a window and let your eyes and mind wander.

I can’t think of a better way to unwind.

  1. Also being a senior citizen, mental exercise (meditation, soul searching) does the trick. Question is to analyse what made the day so ‘demanding’? Once that pinned down, out with some physical activity too.
