Symbols of Faith and Love

My husband, Billy, fought acute myeloid leukemia for five years, and, at the end of those five years, the leukemia won the battle.

During those years, he had a stem cell transplant and was in and out of the hospital many times, sometimes fighting for his life, always winning, until the shocking end when he actually lost the fight.

Our little church is filled with “prayer warriors”, people who daily go before God in prayer, asking for healing or help for others.

These prayer warriors sent Billy so many cards over the years, and each card was filled with love, encouragement and promises of prayer on his behalf.

Each card was a cherished physical symbol, showing how much people cared, that people were sending their prayers and petitions to the gates of Heaven on his behalf, and sending love and strength to us.

  1. my old lady is a prayer warrior. If it’s one thing she has left me with before the good lord calls her home, is that fervent effectual prayer is the most valuable gift you can give to someone…including yourself.

this was a wonderful share. A reminder of how important the support of friends can be as we go through our trials.
