today summer came hurrying back
like she forgot her stay was over
she spread her grace over the day with warmth
the sun nuzzled my skin
and I cuddled with her like it was spring
the wind swirled dry leaves around me
and I was surrounded by music
the cardinal rustled in the burning bush
surprised to see me out
I willed her not to fly away
a train whistled long and I heard it’s faint
rumbling for miles and miles down the track
and I closed my eyes in peace
