When First We Met

When I first saw you, it was like getting hit with a thunderbolt. I had to struggle to try to stay cool. I stayed back and talked to your friend, while my eyes were drawn to you again and again. I saw that you were strong, and very handsome. I saw you smile and heard you laugh and I was done for. My girlfriend said later that even though I didn’t talk to you at first, she could feel the tension between us across the room and she knew there was something there.

In your version of the story, you fell for me as soon as you laid eyes on me. When we finally spoke, you asked me to a party at your house the next weekend. You said you could tell I was elated. Then you told your boss he had to come to the party to meet me, because I was going to be your girlfriend.

We were so young and free and were not looking for love on that fall day. But we happened to meet, and everything clicked. When I came to your party the next weekend, you held my hand as you introduced me to your friends, and your boss, like we were in middle school, and I felt like a kid again, like life was giving me a second chance. And love bloomed between us from that day forward, a love that would last a lifetime.
