I have had so many jobs I don’t know if I can remember them all, but here goes.
A waitress at 15 1/2 at a family owned restaurant called the Eat-A-Teria.
I worked at KFC, filling orders and working the cashier.
I worked at our local newspaper, setting ads and taking classified ads.
I was a cashier at K-Mart.
I worked in the bakery at a local grocery store.
I worked as the Accounts Receivable clerk at a local factory.
Evening bartender at a dive bar that had an attached mom & pop’s restaurant.
Cleaned houses and empty apartments off and on for a few years, usually while doing something else.
Worked at a temp agency, doing clerical and receptionist assignments.
I was a receptionist at a corporate office that rented spaces to different businesses. I answered all the renter’s calls.
Cocktail waitress at the Hungry Hunter in Fremont, CA.
I bought and operated a bobtail truck, delivering freight all over the Bay Area.
I delivered newspapers from 3:00 a.m. until they were all delivered with my infant son in a moses basket in the back seat, folded newspapers all around him.
I was a stay at home mom, a job I actually loved.
I finally went to college. I had to admit I couldn’t carry on like this.
After graduating college, I worked as a real estate paralegal in a local law firm.
Sick of long hours, we bought a van with carpet cleaning equipment in it and I cleaned carpets for about 3 years, very part time.
Sick of cleaning carpets, I went back to work part-time as a paralegal at a local law firm.
In 2000 I was hired by my county government’s public defender’s office as a research paralegal and I have been here ever since. Finally, a job that paid money that I enjoyed.
