Recipe For A Good Day

You begin with a long, luxurious sleep
with dreams so sweet that they make you weep.
Next, you bring your breakfast to your favorite chair
and you cuddle in a blanket in your very own lair.
Now awake, you may choose to follow your heart
and shower or bathe and dress for your part –
a person of leisure, or one on a quest
seeking adventure or one seeking rest –
whatever your role, what you do or may say
remember to open your eyes through the day,
see the beauty around you, in all that you view
let it permeate in your soul, through and through.
When you’re refreshed, sprinkle in some fun
and try to find laughter before the day’s done.
Take a moment to feel true gratitude
but if you can’t, try to change your mood
to one of acceptance and faith, even hope
it could always be worse, and you always cope.
If a loved one is near, share a loving embrace
and end your day thanking God for his grace.

Nancy’s prompt: Rhyming recipes

Write a poem in rhyming couplets (two lines that rhyme) that gives instructions for making something.

Your poem does not have to be about food. You can write a “recipe” for anything, such as:

  • a drink or snack
  • a science experiment
  • a craft or DIY project
  • a perfect day or relationship
  • a mood, feeling, or life situation

Requirements:

  • Use rhyming couplets throughout
  • Give clear steps or instructions
  • Be creative with what your “recipe” is for

Think of it as turning instructions into something memorable and playful through rhyme.
