About a year ago, my sister-in-law showed me a picture of a beautiful painting my other sister-in-law had painted. It portrayed a cafe at night, with golden light spilling out of the windows. She told me it had been created by a paint-by-number kit. I was astonished! It was so professional looking.
So, last Christmas I requested a paint-by-number kit and I began working on it. To my dismay, the numbers were so tiny I had to use a magnifying glass to see them. Some of the areas were also so small I needed the magnification to paint them. It was a gorgeous picture, and I really wanted to paint it, but it was difficult for me. I completed about a quarter of the painting, which is quite large. Finally, it became so tedious and frustrating that I had to step away.
But that small amount of painting I had completed inspired me to try acrylic painting free hand. I purchased canvas and paints, watched YouTube videos, and began painting. I went slowly, and had to paint over some places several times, especially the sky. After several weeks of working on the painting a bit every day, I had completed my painting of a willow tree with a stream nearby and trees and flowers on a countryside. It is very amateur, but it was fun and mostly relaxing. I have another canvas and a lot of paint left, so I plan to continue painting. If I ever create something worthy of sharing, I will post a picture of it. But that certainly won’t be soon, or ever!
