I have a hole
where my husband lived
right in the center of my heart
a round shape filled
with absence and quiet
I could ask God to reshape my heart
to mold it like clay and make it new
whole and lovely, filled with
His love, but I want to keep a tiny
hole just to honor him
My husband lives in my blood
that renews my body, he lives on
my skin that knew every part of him,
and he lives in my eyes and is
always before me, my beloved.
