your shirts
hang in their place
they don’t complain you’re gone
they don’t know
you’ll never put them on again
the plaids and solids solemn
the collars are stoic
they wait

You accomplished what the prompt required with true heart. After Paul passed, my daughter came and cleaned out most of Paul’s things a few days later so I wouldn’t have to go through that. I did ask her to hang onto a few things that truly defined who he was. I’m glad she obliged.
