He sat on a bench in the graveyard when he saw among the headstones two little girls in iridescent white dresses. A old woman sat next to him.
“Do you see them?” she asked. “Those darling girls drowned in the river a long time ago. Now they welcome the newly dead.”
The woman disappeared, but now the girls were beside him. They took his hands. All he felt was peace.
